But another dilemma ensues: how will they get Mary Anne out of the cellar that she has just dug? While this greatly perplexes everyone at first, a little boy comes up with a brilliant solution: leave Mary Anne in the cellar to become the new furnace of the town hall and let Mike Mulligan become the janitor!

I think it's a good story about steam shovels. I think I first read it during a visit to my grandparents' house, and it brought up some bittersweet memories. Moreover, I was wondering to myself what was so special about a book being about a man and his steam shovel! When I first heard about this book, you anf initiate questions regarding the similarities in nature between loyalty and love.
